Floridita Restaurant, la cuna del Daiquirí

Bar-Restaurant Floridita is located at Obispo street number 557 at the corner of Monserrate Street Old Havana. It was inaugurated in 1817 and at time named "La Piña de Plata" (The Silver Pineapple).

“Esquire” magazine in 1953 includes Floridita among the seven most famous bars of the World. In 1992, the North-American Academy of Gastronomic Sciences rewards the Floridita with the Best of the Best Five Star Diamond Award, considering it the King of the Daiquiri and the most emblematic specialized on fish and shellfish Restaurant.

Daiquiri, the Floridita drink of the house, is a cocktail prepared on white rum, lime, marrasquino, and sugar.

The renown journalist and writer, and Nobel Laureate Ernest Hemingway called the Floridita the “Cradle of the Daiquiri”. Here he enjoyed his favorite drink. Nowadays, a statue just at his preferred place at the bar reminds his presence.
